How the Formula Works

GATE Score = 350 + 900 x (M - Mq) / (Mt - Mq)

M is your marks (out of 100). Mq is the qualifying marks (25 for General, approximately 16.67 for SC/ST/PwD). Mt is the mean marks of the top 0.1% or top 10 candidates, whichever group is larger.

The formula normalizes your performance against the difficulty of the paper and the quality of the candidate pool. A score of 350 corresponds to the qualifying mark, and 1000 represents the theoretical maximum.

For multi-session papers (ME, CE, and others), an additional normalization adjusts for difficulty differences between sessions, ensuring candidates from harder sessions are not penalized.
